Popasay was born in Nigeria west Africa Where he grew up in a Christian home. During his youth he sang for Family and Friends just for the fun of it. . In the early 90's, he became one of the pioneers of a group called "SYBILS" and that group later became part of The Geraldo-pino's Extended Family Band, a well known band in Port Harcourt -Rivers
